# Connectors

Connectors [#connectors]

Connect agents to databases, SaaS apps, files and MCP servers through connections that Central Hub stores.

| Term | Meaning |
| -------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Connector | A provider adapter, such as `postgresql` or `slack`; a fixed catalog |
| Connection | A connector plus credentials, stored encrypted in a workspace as `private` or `space` |
| MCP connection | A remote MCP server, its credentials and its discovered tools |
| Semantic layer | Business names, relationships, definitions and KPIs on a database connection |

Pick a connector, create a connection, then query it over the API or add its ID to an agent's `enabled_connection_ids`.

* An API key can do everything on these pages except start a new OAuth connection, which needs the signed-in user who will own it.
* Every request sends `X-Space-Slug`. Keys and headers: [Authentication and API keys](../api-basics/authentication).
